ridiculous. a word i'm kind of in love with.

the back of the shop is ridiculous. kind of. but something tells me ridiculous is something to be thankful for. so i am. custom work is crazy busy these days. i have to take deep breaths and thank the good Lord for blessing me with the work. especially with work that i love. but i also sometimes catch myself praying extra hard for organization.
i make promises to return brushes to their "home", return paint cans to their "place",  put folders in their drawers,  and glitter rules change on a day to day basis.... but i dont like breaking promises. so i must confess.... today, tomorrow and possibly into next week i don't want to make those promises. i don't want any rules. glitter is pretty. finding the paint and brushes is a scavenger hunt and i really enjoy those things. i take back the recent rule of "no more painting in your good clothes because they are pretty much ALL sporting a permanent paint tattoo." so there... i take that one back. clothes are only clothes and so be it if my clothes (shoes included) have a little character added. what works for me, works for me. and it doesn't have to work for others. just as what works for others doesnt have to work for me. this week i am SO thankful to have some out of state help. the best part- not once has she given me the "we need an intervention" speech. she has worked her little alabama "vacation" away in the back of the store helping me (whew) and i have yet to hear "how do you find things in here? does this not drive you crazy?" she did ask one of the first days she was in town where something was and without even considering asking a second time she was certain it was so much easier to find it herself. because she knew that my answer would more than likely always be "im not sure how to tell you.... thats how i scored a part time job of becoming a professional scavenger hunter"  and that's kind of how the story goes.....she too, is enjoying the hunt. and the character on her clothes.... and the painted pretties she is making. messy work area and all. that's what i call a common ground. and one kick ass awesome, awesome friend! :)

small talk.

{about a BIG deal}

today is the day.
yes, for one of the souths favorite football games.
favorite day of the year, in fact.

but.... that isn't exactly where i was going with this post....
today is the day.... to shop small.

show some local business love today on "small business saturday".
why stop now... black friday is just.... well, black friday!
and kind of yesterday.
kind of old news.

but the old news.... it never fails... is the kind that goes down in history. right?
and if it's played right... it's the kind worth remembering.

file under "black friday year one":

our first black friday was unbelievable. filled with so much excitement. out of control. pretty much perfect! ummm....did i say unbelievable?

i would be lying if i said i wasn't already excited about tackling black friday {year two}
it was that much fun.... and that darn exciting. :)

you guys are simply the best.
again we would like to say a HUGE thanks.
black friday wouldn't have been what it was {on the other side}without YOU GUYS to make it such a success. it was so much fun because of every single one of you.
on black friday{year one} we were reminded just how thankful we are to have the support that we do. today was overwhelming. it really was.

my sister [who mostly goes by the name marley.... though i do sometimes call her bob] is the best friend and sister God could have ever blessed me with. she is such a hard worker. so talented. and her creative juices have burst into flames. [especially over the past few years] and i have loved more than anything sharing the confetti crate adventure with her.
it's so much freakin' better than sharing a bathroom as we once did back in the day. after locking the doors to our black friday day.... we heated up soggy lunch at 7:45pm.... laughed.... and didn't mind one bit that our lunch time was really supper time....  our table ended up being the floor of the store....and our feet,oh... way past sore.

these are the days we will cherish forever. the days we just may make fun of in a few years. the days we will look back on and know without a doubt that we owe alot of people gigantic hugs.... and huge over-sized jumbo version thank you's....
all because they believed in us.
and supported us.

and not only told us.... but showed us.

we would love to see lots of smiling faces at the confetti crate on small business saturday.

and to our favorite football team.... GO TROJANS!
until next time....the rest is just details.  :)

you say it's puppy love?

some of my favorite days at this little store of mine are days that customers bring in their fur babies to shop. and today was one of those days. :)

Thanks so much for the fun, kind words! :)

do you know what happened exactly eight months and one day ago?

the confetti crate was born!

wow. i can't believe this journey started eight months ago.
it has been a wild and fantastic ride.
i have to say, i am truly blessed.
so happy.
and eager to see what more is to come.

i know i have said it before awhile back but i feel it is important enough to repeat.
thank you guys!
from the very bottom of my heart.
because of each of you.... i have this place. this home. this j-o-b that feels nothing like a "job" and much more like a dream come true.

that, my friends, feels just fancy.

thanks for believing in me.
thanks for constantly keeping my creative juice running wild.
thanks for encouraging me.
thanks for accepting that most days i will have my extremely beat up paint covered cowgirl boots on regardless of the outfit "matching".

thanks for supporting my local artists.
thanks for making me smile.
thanks for noticing the hard work. and little details.
thanks for everything, you guys.

it means the world to me. :)

so let's celebrate the first eight months of many more to come, shall we?!
come see me (and marley) anytime tomorrow from 10-6 and mention this blog post for a little saturday afternoon freebie! :)
