we want...

mallory and marley are at it again....
{blonde} heads together and thoughts combined.
we have so many fun ideas shuffling around for the new year.

we want to offer our blog readers specials.
we want to show our appreciation to those who recycle.
we want to keep the store filled with new. and excitement.
we want to hear our customers feedback.
we want to see pictures of our store in your home.
or on your child. (fur babies, included)
we want to continue growing. (store growth not body, that is)
we want to brighten your day simply by opening our doors for you to come to what so many refer to as "their happy place".
we want to see lots of new faces at our art parties.
we want to help you celebrate a birthday.
we want to offer giveaways just because.
but most of all....
we want our customers to know how much we appreciate them.

sign up for our newsletter. become a follower of our blog. share your pictures with us. save the earth. (details on our new recycle rewards are coming soon) plan an ART birthday party with us. tell us what you love most about the confetti crate. we promise a year full of specials for those that do. twenty thirteen is going to be a good year.

Christmas. An Engagement. And a messy house.

{in no specific order.}
i will present to you (in blog form) a little from some of it all. :)

but before i do any of that i would like to personally thank you guys from the bottom of my heart for supporting my dream, my store, and my happy place. you all really kicked some tail this christmas season with major love shown by shopping local! thank you thank you thank you and..... thank you again! i couldn't be more thrilled about the last bit of 2012 at the confetti crate! we will reopen tomorrow from 10-6 and saturday 10-2:00. we would LOVE to see everyone before NEXT YEAR so come by and spend some of that Christmas money that's surely burning a hole in your pocket! in advance... i would like to apoligize about the BARE store. And the scattered random not so organized looking displays and such. after we closed the doors on Christmas Eve it has been ALL family. and I didn't step foot in the shop until late afternoon  today to show off the MESS store to my favorite Michigan family. :)  there will be after Christmas SALES going on so come see us tomorrow!

onto the next....

it was great.
full of sparkles.
family and friends.
fabulous food.
good music.
and safe travels.

i hope that each of you had the same and more.

i said YES.
a best friend will always be a best friend. but as of dec. 25th 2012 my best friend became a little more. my fiance. :) i was surprised. so surprised. i can't even explain the happiness that exploded inside when wes asked me to marry him. the weather was scary that night. sirens were going off left and right. but right there in our own little world we shared together a rather magical night. things finally calmed down a bit with the storms and we ended the 25th with a blanket fort, a movie, many forhead kisses and i love you's.... and a ring. :)

a messy house.
a time for sharing what's really behind doors of our house after all of the excitement.

scenes from our dining room. the sight of this is (slightly) different as of today. still a work in progress, people. still a work in progress. and yes, this is what you see right as you walk in the front door of our home... for now!

this looks kind of like our den.... oh wait, it kind of is. somewhere. under that pile. we have a den.

i am making progress. one {festive} box at a time. and for all of you who chose to look PAST the progress and eye balled the clean laundry piled nearly to the ceiling on the bed.... well, we cant be friends today! i need positive cheerleaders! :) this may be just an excuse to some but i'm REALLY trying to put the Christmas decor up in a neat and stress free way. that's part of the reason this is such a lenghty process. oh, that and.... i may or may not be still floating on cloud nine. taking more "breaks" from cleaning than i should to glance down at my ring....:)

i envy my sister every single year when she pulls out her neatly stored christmas decorations.... it's fair to say that i am the sister pulling down tangled tinsel. half working lights. and broken ornaments. but next  year.... oh yes, next year. we just may have a different story to tell. :)

and until that point in time comes....
we will enjoy the moments. little. big. messy or clean.
we will relax and remember that we are so fortunate to have a home.
and work on the "putting away" one pile at a time. :)
and maybe.... just maybe... we will have it together before Christmas twenty thirteen.

but if not.... i promise to work even harder at accomplishing it for twenty fourteen. :)

here's to another great year ahead, big changes on (speaking for myself) organization, wedding planning and a promise to always find time to love. and play. cheers!

cheers to a colorful weekend!

ridiculous. a word i'm kind of in love with.

the back of the shop is ridiculous. kind of. but something tells me ridiculous is something to be thankful for. so i am. custom work is crazy busy these days. i have to take deep breaths and thank the good Lord for blessing me with the work. especially with work that i love. but i also sometimes catch myself praying extra hard for organization.
i make promises to return brushes to their "home", return paint cans to their "place",  put folders in their drawers,  and glitter rules change on a day to day basis.... but i dont like breaking promises. so i must confess.... today, tomorrow and possibly into next week i don't want to make those promises. i don't want any rules. glitter is pretty. finding the paint and brushes is a scavenger hunt and i really enjoy those things. i take back the recent rule of "no more painting in your good clothes because they are pretty much ALL sporting a permanent paint tattoo." so there... i take that one back. clothes are only clothes and so be it if my clothes (shoes included) have a little character added. what works for me, works for me. and it doesn't have to work for others. just as what works for others doesnt have to work for me. this week i am SO thankful to have some out of state help. the best part- not once has she given me the "we need an intervention" speech. she has worked her little alabama "vacation" away in the back of the store helping me (whew) and i have yet to hear "how do you find things in here? does this not drive you crazy?" she did ask one of the first days she was in town where something was and without even considering asking a second time she was certain it was so much easier to find it herself. because she knew that my answer would more than likely always be "im not sure how to tell you.... thats how i scored a part time job of becoming a professional scavenger hunter"  and that's kind of how the story goes.....she too, is enjoying the hunt. and the character on her clothes.... and the painted pretties she is making. messy work area and all. that's what i call a common ground. and one kick ass awesome, awesome friend! :)

small talk.

{about a BIG deal}

today is the day.
yes, for one of the souths favorite football games.
favorite day of the year, in fact.

but.... that isn't exactly where i was going with this post....
today is the day.... to shop small.

show some local business love today on "small business saturday".
why stop now... black friday is just.... well, black friday!
and kind of yesterday.
kind of old news.

but the old news.... it never fails... is the kind that goes down in history. right?
and if it's played right... it's the kind worth remembering.

file under "black friday year one":

our first black friday was unbelievable. filled with so much excitement. out of control. pretty much perfect! ummm....did i say unbelievable?

i would be lying if i said i wasn't already excited about tackling black friday {year two}
it was that much fun.... and that darn exciting. :)

you guys are simply the best.
again we would like to say a HUGE thanks.
black friday wouldn't have been what it was {on the other side}without YOU GUYS to make it such a success. it was so much fun because of every single one of you.
on black friday{year one} we were reminded just how thankful we are to have the support that we do. today was overwhelming. it really was.

my sister [who mostly goes by the name marley.... though i do sometimes call her bob] is the best friend and sister God could have ever blessed me with. she is such a hard worker. so talented. and her creative juices have burst into flames. [especially over the past few years] and i have loved more than anything sharing the confetti crate adventure with her.
it's so much freakin' better than sharing a bathroom as we once did back in the day. after locking the doors to our black friday day.... we heated up soggy lunch at 7:45pm.... laughed.... and didn't mind one bit that our lunch time was really supper time....  our table ended up being the floor of the store....and our feet,oh... way past sore.

these are the days we will cherish forever. the days we just may make fun of in a few years. the days we will look back on and know without a doubt that we owe alot of people gigantic hugs.... and huge over-sized jumbo version thank you's....
all because they believed in us.
and supported us.

and not only told us.... but showed us.

we would love to see lots of smiling faces at the confetti crate on small business saturday.

and to our favorite football team.... GO TROJANS!
until next time....the rest is just details.  :)

you say it's puppy love?

some of my favorite days at this little store of mine are days that customers bring in their fur babies to shop. and today was one of those days. :)

do you know what happened exactly eight months and one day ago?

the confetti crate was born!

wow. i can't believe this journey started eight months ago.
it has been a wild and fantastic ride.
i have to say, i am truly blessed.
so happy.
and eager to see what more is to come.

i know i have said it before awhile back but i feel it is important enough to repeat.
thank you guys!
from the very bottom of my heart.
because of each of you.... i have this place. this home. this j-o-b that feels nothing like a "job" and much more like a dream come true.

that, my friends, feels just fancy.

thanks for believing in me.
thanks for constantly keeping my creative juice running wild.
thanks for encouraging me.
thanks for accepting that most days i will have my extremely beat up paint covered cowgirl boots on regardless of the outfit "matching".

thanks for supporting my local artists.
thanks for making me smile.
thanks for noticing the hard work. and little details.
thanks for everything, you guys.

it means the world to me. :)

so let's celebrate the first eight months of many more to come, shall we?!
come see me (and marley) anytime tomorrow from 10-6 and mention this blog post for a little saturday afternoon freebie! :)

a beautiful mess.

story of my life:
making a beautiful mess.
and doing so often.

we could use the counter at the confetti crate as a perfect example.

but a mess.
it may {or may not} have stayed like this majority of the morning.
but that's okay with me. being busy is a good thing.
so the result being somewhat "messy" is accepted here.
that's all there is to it. :)
i have to tell myself that anyway.

we are slowly {but surely} getting ready for CHRISTMAS.
handmade is something i have a crazy love for.
and the "decor" in the store this year is falling in that category.
the sister and i have been working elf style at preparing the windows, the outside and our crazy lives to make this the most magical Christmas yet. we turn into elves almost every year.... we love the holiday. we love to give. and we love to "make"....
it never fails that we end up "making" up this idea that we fight with determination and a sisterhood bond to accomplish.
so here's to a new kind of Christmas for us....
a Christmas on the other side.
behind the counter.
decorating props and windows....
and loving this opportunity that we have dreamed about.... and worked for. with jingle bells on the whole way. :)
